Study on the slopes

Last week, the Year 13 Outdoor Education class went to Coronet Peak, in Queenstown, for their Snow Sports assessment.

This involved students practising and then being assessed in either Skiing or Snow Boarding. The practical Standard required students demonstrate a number of key skills on an intermediate grade slope.

Having already had an opportunity in Rock Climbing last term some boys opted to just enjoy the experience, however, a few boys practiced hard over the 3 days before demonstrating their competence. The photos included here are from Day One, on learners slopes, with several of the Snow Boarders. Over the three days all the boys participated in progressive lessons before getting the opportunity to complete their assessment runs.

Thanks again to the Otago Ski Club Lodge for their hospitality during our stay with them, atop the mountain.
