Welcome back to Term 3 - the perseverance term!
On Monday we welcomed the school back with a full school assembly in the Gym and a question was posed to the boys. How can they use the value of perseverance to enhance their potential?
There are actually 6 benefits of teaching our boys to persevere, and these 6 benefits go much further than simply finishing the job at hand. The 6 are:
Developing resilience, bouncing back from challenges can give a sense of achievement, even if it is the simple act of getting back into the game.
Enhancing their problem solving skills, staying with the problem for longer and thinking of ways to go above, around or through.
Building self-confidence - the thing that I am most told about our boys in enrolment interviews, is that you would like him to show more self confidence, well perseverance helps him.
Promoting discipline and consistency, which creates positive life affirming habits.
Encourages a long term vision, very little that is worthwhile happens instantly, most of the time, you have to actually have a plan A, B and C.
Strengthens your work ethic, simply put, perseverance ensures that individuals learn the value of effort and work.
If you want to help your son achieve this term, then perseverance is the best topic you can discuss with him.
