We are delighted to reflect on the success of our students at the recent Manu Pounamu Young Achievers’ Awards 2024.
‘The Awards provide an opportunity to showcase our future leaders, providing inspirational role models to other Māori youth across the province’. It is with great pride that we congratulate Tāmati Whitaker, Year 13, for receiving the Senior Recipient Award, and Marley Leevey, Year 10, the Junior Recipient Award, for their achievement in this important event.
Named in honour of the late Tāua Alva Kapa, a respected Kāi Tahu educator, these awards celebrate the excellence and leadership of rakatahi Māori across Otago Secondary Schools. The ceremony, held at the University of Otago, College of Education Auditorium, was a testament to the dedication and achievements of our students.
Tāmati Whitaker's achievement as the Senior recipient for Manu Pounamu 2024 highlights his commitment to academic and personal excellence. His leadership and dedication have set an inspiring example for our community. Marley Leevey's recognition for his cultural, academic and sporting achievements underscores the potential and promise of our younger students.
Unfortunately, Tāmati was unable to attend the event so will be receiving his award at our first assembly of term 3.
We extend our whakamihi to Tāmati, Marley, and all recipients of the Manu Pounamu Young Achievers’ Awards 2024.
