13ODR finished up their term of rock climbing with an assessment day at Long Beach.
Conditions were almost perfect, with no wind and a warming sun throughout the day. While there was some residual moisture from the previous few days of rain, it didn't stop the boys from experiencing success.
Starting at the ‘Pinnacles’, the boys all began with an easier climb to get into the groove. From there, many of the boys looked to challenge themselves on the Merit and Excellence climbs.
Seth Affleck, Fletcher Harrex, Jonathon King and Brady Weatherston all completed ‘Crapulance’ a tough grade 16 climb. A standout though was Tom Dunn who climbed the grade 18 ‘Surrepticious’, twice! After lunch the group moved down to the ‘Caves’. Tim Fyfe, who was growing in confidence, pocketed the grade 18 ‘Purple Haze’ first up. This feat was later repeated by Tom, Brady and Fletcher (and nearly Aaron Fox). Seth Affleck’s perseverance paid off, the only one to conquer the 'Levellers’.
A big thanks to Tim and Ben from Dunedin Adventures for facilitating this.
