A testament to our students' dedication to school values beyond the classroom.
Dear Richard
We want to share how thrilled we are to have had Year 13 Hunter Burgess, OBHS Piper, contribute to our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding recently. Hunter gave up his whole day to make the round trip from his rural home and back, and we are all so impressed with him in every way.
The wedding saw the union of Fijian and Scottish cultures. Hunter piped around the grounds of St Patrick’s Basilica as guests arrived, and at the end of the ceremony, the sound of the pipes in the church was stirring and memorable, especially so for our Scottish family.
Hunter exemplified all the values of OBHS. His performance reflected excellence, hours of dedication, courage in performing in such an important role, and perseverance. He honoured our Scottish heritage with his traditional dress, treating his role with respect for both cultures and for the occasion. He also played voluntarily at the Owaka ANZAC Dawn Service, another impressive, selfless contribution to such an important event.
We are deeply grateful to Hunter and his mother who also gave up her day to make our own day so perfect. We couldn’t be happier!
