This week our Year 13 Outdoor Education students completed a 2 day tramp in the Silver Peaks Scenic Reserve.
Day 1:
Despite hitting the Tunnels Track half an hour later than we had planned, some steady walking and mild temperatures saw us reach 'The Gap' for lunch just before 2pm. Things slowed down a bit as we descended towards Jubilee Hut. Wet tracks with pig damage saw several people take a tumble. Once at the valley floor, only pockets of mud and a diversion to Jubilee Hut impeded us as we arrived at our camp site just after 4.30pm.
Day 2:
A cool night, under clear skies, saw those tents that weren't under tree cover white with frost in the morning. This slowed our getaway somewhat as they were shaken off and packed. With a poor weather forecast for the afternoon the group was motivated to knock the last day out. The Devil's Staircase tried its best, especially slowing those boys carrying extra load, but the pace was steady for the walk out. As it started to drizzle, we caught the welcome sight of the car park.
After hanging tents to dry,
and cleaning and stowing group gear away, we were finished!
