Wow! There was some talent on display at the semifinals round of the Talent Quest.
8 contestants battled it out for a chance to make it into the finals. We had singers, a band, pianists, guitarists, and even a poet! The semifinals were held over lunchtime on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the judges struggled to pick their favourites. An amazing range of talent saw the library packed with students and teachers trying to watch the Talent Quest. A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the semifinals. Whether you were in the room watching live, or watching the livestream, we thank you for supporting the Talent Quest and the contestants competing.
Before we reveal who made it through to the finals, we would like to thank the people who make the Talent Quest possible. Firstly, a big thank you to all the teachers who helped judge both the auditions and semifinals. The boys appreciate all the work you put into their feedback so they could have the best chance at winning. Another big thank you to all our sponsors, without whom Talent Quest would not be able to be run. Thanks to Magnum Automotive Dunedin, The RockShop Dunedin, Sugar BOOM NZ, and the Otago Boys’ High School Foundation. As the organiser of the Talent Quest, it is humbling that so many would give up their time to help my idea come to fruition and give the boys an opportunity to show off their talents.
Without further ado, and in no particular order, here are your 2024 Otago Boys’ Talent Quest Finalists!
If you missed the semifinals don’t worry, we have you covered. We will be releasing a high quality filmed version of the Otago Boys’ Talent Quest ‘24 semifinals round uploaded to the school’s youtube channel (www.youtube.com/@OtagoBoysHighSchoolNZ), it will also be uploaded to the Talent Quest’s website (http://tinyurl.com/OBTQ1) in the following days. So make sure to check that out. There will also be a post on the Talent Quest instagram page, and the schools social media accounts when the video is released on youtube.
The contestants now have 12 days to get their finals piece ready. We invite the families of the contestants to come and join us in the auditorium and watch live (more information to come), and for those wanting to watch from home, there will be a livestream (more information to come), and a filmed version released for your viewing pleasure. We can’t wait to see what the contestants come up with for their finals performance.
Bring on the 14th of May!
