Water Polo success

Last night the OBHS A Team took GOLD against King's High School in a match that had a tight first half.

An inspired goal from Jack Dixon which took us to a 3-2 lead at the start of the second half had King's on the back foot and alongside some excellent goalkeeping by the B team goalie Oliver Jamieson (who was playing up), meant we cruised to a 5-2 win and the trophy for the Dunedin Secondary School Water Polo Competition. A great mental attitude and the boys backing themselves meant for a determined win.

Having lost to King's last week, the B team had a closely fought match for BRONZE against Taieri. Oliver Davidson was outstanding in goal, saving many attempts by Taieri but man of the match had to go to Henry Hodgson who shot a beautiful yet difficult goal from the left-hand side in the last 30 seconds to clinch the 3-2 win! There was inspired team play by this young development side who have gotten better and better as the term has progressed.

Thanks go to Paul Wagner, our excellent Otago Water Polo coach and Johnathon King (Year13) and Aleks Kivilevs (Year12) who have been relentless in their devotion to coaching and inspiring the developing B team this term.
