Man of the Week

Congratulations to Year 12 students Tom Wilson and Kaiau Karena who were members of the OBHS 3x3 Basketball Team that competed i the South Island Secondary School Championships recently and made it all the way to the Grand Final, narrowly losing the final.  Well done boys on a great display of skill and talent.

Shave for a Cure

Huge congratulations to a large number of our boys who helped raise funds for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand while also shaving their hair to show support to a great cause.  Some special acknowledgements to some boys who fundraised some  outstanding amounts. Massive congratulations to Year 9 student, Nate Latta who raised $1400 on his own.  Also Housemaster Seb Whiston who raised $1001.  Year 9 students Charlie Swan raised $640, Jacob Colhoun raised $512, Logan MacAskill raised $487 and Charlie Anderson raised $406, plus many others which is fantastic.  All together our School House hostel boys raised a total of $5138 for chairty. Well done gentlemen.

Football Otago Youth Development Academy Selection

Congratulations to Year 11 Finlay Williamson who has been selected for the FOYDA Football team that will travel to United Kingdom to compete in Northern Ireland Super Cup which is an International Football Tournament.  They will compete in the Under 16 Junior Section of the Challenge Cup in July this year.  Well done Finlay.

Extra Activities:

The boys have enjoyed some great activities over the past couple of weekends with a day out exploring, a movie night in the hostel, extra training and laser tag.

Cricket in the UK

We said farewell and gave our best wishes to Housemaster Seb Lauderdale-Smith who departed Dunedin for the UK last week to play cricket in England and get some great international experience during Term 2 and 3 this year.  We wish him all the best and will see him back in Term 4 later this year.

Upcoming Dates:

Wednesday 10th April - Formal Dinner (All boys attend) - We acknowledge and celebrate some outstanding achievements in Term 1 by our hostel boys and have some invited guests for this formal occasion as well as a guest speaker.

Thursday 11th April - Hostel Parent Function. 

Friday 12th April - Hostel Parent-Teacher Interviews. School Finishes early. Last day of Term 1

Saturday 13th April - Sunday 28th April  - School Holidays

Sunday 28th April - Boys return to the hostel from 2pm onwards.

Monday 29th April - First day of Term 2 - full school assembly in the school gym.

Friday May 24th - Year 8 Hostel Open Day

Wednesday 26th June - Traditional Year 9 OBHS Hostel Rugby Match vs Timaru Boys High School Hostel
