On Wednesday, the Year 12 classes got their best surfing conditions of the term for their one-day surf trip.
Warrington Beach provided the first stop and gave most students the opportunity to find their feet. After a quick bite to eat they were then driven back into town in search of more favourable conditions, at St Clair. While repairs to the sand sausages meant we surfed more towards St Kilda, there were clean conditions and a number of the boys got to ride unbroken waves.
Thursday, conditions weren't quite as favourable for the Year 13's one-day tramp. The drizzle and cooler temperatures made for some good learning though, as we completed a loop up the Jim Freeman track to Ben Rudd's shelter, onto the Flagstaff fire break and finally down from Flagstaff summit to the Bull Pen carpark. The afternoon also allowed us to pitch tents and practice using the Trangia cookers. These activities were preparatory for an overnight tramp the class will complete early next term and for the associated write-up on the strategies they used.
