Massive congratulations to all our OBHS rowers who raced in Twizel over the last week and to our coaches who have worked hard over two terms to get our boys to their rowing peak.
Spending nine days with 40+ boys was an adventure, made easy because of the attitude and respect the boys showed to each other and to the parent helpers and coaches. In particular, it was great to see the support given to crews, irrespective of success or disappointment, this is a true credit to the culture of the OBHS rowing community.
A big thank you to our amazing parent help supporters.
Results were fabulous! Huge congratulations to the novices who stole the show this year, scooping a silver and a gold.
In total OBHS made eight ‘A’ finals (top 8 in NZ) and eight ‘B’ finals (top 16 in NZ). OBHS continues to shine in the rowing world.
SILVER MEDAL - Boys’ novice coxed eight (6 mins 49.75) Seth Affleck, Carlos Dean, Toby Ollerenshaw, Hoani Kiwara, Jackson Templeton, Ben Glover, Jude Smillie, Ollie Scott and Hunter Ruxton (cox).
GOLD MEDAL - Boys' U18 novice coxed four (7 mins.22.18) Seth Affleck, Toby Ollerenshaw, Jude Smillie, Ollie Scott and Hunter Ruxton (cox).
