Last week Year 13 student Shamus Young competed at the 2024 DTL (Down the Line) Clay Target Nationals in Christchurch.
Over 260 of the best shooters across New Zealand shot over seven days.
The combined results of the last three days served as the trials to represent NZ in the Mackintosh International DTL team.
Shamus shot very well over the three trial days to gain one of the five coveted spots on the NZ Junior Team. The Junior Team is Under 21.
On Saturday he held his nerve under pressure and shot an amazing 99 out of 100 clay targets representing his country. Overall, his team of five only missed four targets out of 500.
This is a worldwide competition with each country entered holding their own National DTL Competition over the next few months.
We now await these results to see their final standing on the world stage.
Shamus did an outstanding job and can be very proud of his achievement.
