In the week 7 progress reports, you may notice changes in how we report assessment grades.
Starting from 2024, all junior assessment-reported grades will follow an 8-point grading scale. The table below, which will also be in the school report, will offer a clear indication of your son's performance on a given assessment task. While teachers may use various assessment methods and systems to gauge students' current progress, these will be converted to our 0-8 scale for reporting purposes.
This decision aims to enhance consistency across all subject areas in reporting assessments and provide greater clarity regarding your son's performance. Furthermore, it aligns more closely with the NCEA grading scale used in Years 11 to 13.
This year, we are also expanding on reported assessment data for senior students. In some subjects, you may notice assessments labelled as "School: (followed by the name of the assessment or task)", see below. These are what we call formative assessment tasks, illustrating a student's progress within a given topic. They are not NCEA assessments and do not indicate the award of any credits. They are included in the report to inform parents/caregivers, students, and teachers about a student's progress within a body of learning.
Assessments that contribute towards credits will be indicated with both a grade and a credit value attached - see below. They will also not have the word ‘School’ in front of them.

For questions about an individual subject, please email the subject teacher directly.
