Over the course of five days recently, Ewan Syme competed in the Age Group Track Nationals at the ILT Velodrome in Invercargill, his third year competing at this level.
The event brings together top age group track cyclists from across the country. Late in 2015 and in preparation for Nationals, Ewan made the move from representing Otago, to Southland, to take advantage of the world class facilities in Invercargill as well as the region’s top age group coaches.
This ultimately paid dividends, as he and his team mates took out national titles in the 3000m team pursuit and 750m team sprint, and as an individual, Ewan was awarded bronze in the 500m time trial and match sprint events.
