Now hanging in the library is a beautiful artwork made in 2015 by Year 13 student Brandon Scott-Smith.
The work was created from an ink drawing Brandon did for his NCEA Art portfolio. Art teacher Kirsten Taylor worked with Brandon to develop the drawing into a 3D model to be hung in the library.
The collaboration continued with Wood Technology teacher Peter Odgers cutting and shaping the new design into wood. A piece of 50mm thick heart Rimu that used to be a science lab bench in the McIndoe building was cut and shaped over 3 hours by Mr Odgers. It was then painted and completed by Brandon.
A wonderful piece of collaboration and creativity that the school will enjoy for many years to come.
