The Education Review Office is currently in our school. They are here as part of the normal cycle.
Their visit coincided with the debut of the House Banners. Fittingly, the young men who spoke on behalf of their Houses to the senior assembly all connected their House Patron to the values we have in our school today; Respect, Courage, Honour, Perseverance and Excellence.
These House Banners now hang in the Maurice Joel Theatre as a constant reminder of the fellowship of the House competition and the legacy left by those men.
The review team have been impressed with our students. They have clearly seen the positive tone in the school, the spirit that the boys show in their daily interactions. A strong message has been the 100% completion ethos. They have seen in our data, heard from our students, staff and parents the importance of this to our young men.
I believe, they will return with positive findings for our school and we have welcomed the opportunity for them to look at our practice.
A new Board of Trustees has been elected. Thank you to those who voted, but importantly to those who put themselves forward. I was humbled by the show of support. Our elected trustee's are Andrew Kilsby, Liane Topham-Kindly, Anna Campbell, Peter Young and Lawrence Alloo. As a team I think we are well placed to continue our drive for improvement in our school.
Last night our Gifted and Talented group held a quiz night to raise money for the Otago Community Hospice. It was a student led event in the truest sense and over $1700 was raised. It shows me that when you give young men the opportunity to lead they will always shine through.
