A Significant Senior Assembly

By OBHS | Posted: Thursday June 9, 2016

Senior Assembly this week welcomed the Educational Review Officers with a mihi whakatau. Our whānau group performed with credit and the ceremony was enjoyed by all. We look forward to the ERO appraisal of our school to ensure we maintain the high standards we expect from our young men.

Following this the school formally inducted the House banners. Four of our young men spoke on the origins of the House names – Aspinall, Saxton, Park and McIndoe. All four were named after famous Old Boys who displayed Honour, Courage, Perseverance, Respect and Excellence during their time at Otago Boys’ and in their working lives thereafter. The four banners were ceremoniously placed in the Auditorium in order of current standings – Park, McIndoe, Saxton and Aspinall. The first three Houses were on the same points but points allocated for attendance sorted out the current leader – Park. This is a reminder to our young men how important attendance becomes. Thank you must go to Richard Dougherty, Lynn Vare and the School Council for enabling these to be made and presented to the school.
