Several of our students represented Otago at the national age-group basketball championships throughout the holidays.
The Under 19 team included Levi Cockroft, AJ Hope, Hunter Kindley
(Otago U19 Vice Captain) and Hendrix Denham, unfortunately Aaron Roydhouse
was unable to attend due to injury. This team finished in the top four from
among 15 teams in NZ, losing to Waikato 83-80 in overtime in the playoff for 3rd/4th.
OBHS coach Gavin Briggs coached the Under 17 team which included Taiaroa Flavell, Harley Ruru, Ben Reeves, Nathan Hanna and George Bright.
Year 9 players Michael Ruske (Otago U15 Captain) and Angus Faulks were in the Under 15 team which finished in 6th place from 20 teams throughout New Zealand.
Congratulations to all the players, Gavin Briggs (also Junior Tall Blacks Assistant Coach) and Brent Matehaere (also Junior Tall Ferns Coach) for their contributions to the development of basketballers in Otago and New Zealand.
