Our Scholarship Statistics boys, who deserve huge acknowledgement for attending Thursday evening or Saturday morning tutorials all year, take a small break to undertake a triangle distinguishability taste test.
This is a type of statistical experiment frequently used by food companies to test new or different products. The aim was to blind taste three Pineapple Lumps, two of which were from one brand and the third pineapple lump from a different brand. Similarly with three cups of juice, again of two different brands (one at 50% less sugar).
The results - Statistical "proof" that Pascall's Pineapple Lumps are completely distinguishable from a generic brand. However, it's much less clear cut with Just Juice normal Vs 50% less sugar. Definitely a case of lies, damned lies and statistics.
We are now at the business end of the tutorials with study leave and exams only 8 school weeks away.
