Bugger.
That word made famous by a dog probably sums up our results at tournament this week. So far our Chess teams have had the best result followed closely by the junior basketball team - in the last two days I have seen three of our teams lose on penalties.
While losing is a part of sport so is recovery, not just physical but mental recovery.
So I have been focusing on positive self- talk. It sounds like nonsense, but positive self-talk, I believe is a skill more of our young people need.
Even if they focus on the smallest thing that was a positive - a pass, a tackle, a shot on goal, I think it can help them to recover from the loss.
Our boys should take that strategy into the examinations at the end of this term. Too many will dismiss them as not important and that is a mistake, or others will say they won't pass so why try. Replace that negative language with positive; I can't with I might, there no point with there is a chance to learn.
For as many of us know, the lessons from the sports field can be taken into the classroom.
Have a safe weekend and do some study!!
