Malo e lelei.
This week we celebrated Uike Lea Faka Tonga, Tongan Language Week. The theme for the week is 'Fakakoloa 'a Aotearoa 'aki 'a e Loto'i Tonga, 'Enriching Aotearoa with the Tongan Spirit'.
A week long display in the library promoted key Tongan words and phrases and highlighted aspects of the Tongan culture. Also, our Tongan students were profiled, identifying their village and what they enjoy about being Tongan.
This Friday our Tongan and Pasifika students wore their traditional Tupenu and there was a cake stall selling sweet desert dishes from across the Pacific. It gave our staff and students the opportunity to sample some Island food delicacies.
