Junior Public Speaking Competition

On Tuesday in the auditorium a large lunchtime crowd was treated to a feast of oratory as seven talented junior speakers battled it out in our annual public speaking competition.

With topics ranging from Trump to facing fears and right through to the pragmatism of religion, our audience and judges were left impressed by the originality of topics and the perceptive insight offered by our young orators too.

First place was awarded to Bailey Cavanagh-Welch for his speech on opportunity, with Angus Henderson placing 2nd with a look at the dangers of sitting!

Both of these boys will represent the school in our annual Tennyson Shield exchange with Otago Girls' High School towards the end of the term. Bailey will also represent OBs at the annual Otago Secondary School Speech Competition at the end of the month.

A great effort from all speakers, well done boys!
