Academically the school is in full swing. This week we have had, in the main, an uninterrupted academic week for most students. This means our classrooms, the core reason for our existence have been the focus of staff and student attention.
For senior students this year, access to the Write That Essay online tool has been a feature. Staff professional development on Thursday focused on how we could integrate the tool into the classroom and home learning environments. As parents of senior students it would be beneficial if you ask your son to show it to you. He has been sent an email link.
The importance of academic writing is for all boys - not just those going to tertiary institutions. Access to clear and concise communication, through writing will always be necessary, more so in this digital age. Please be part of that conversation.
The summer exchange with Timaru Boys' High School was a success. A special moment was Jacob Cumming's 104 in the Year 9 cricket fixture. Interestingly, his father Craig, who is a TBHS old boy also scored centuries on that ground. We won, 1st XI cricket, Year 9 cricket, golf and the touch. Our Tennis B side went down, but the A team won the regional final against John McGlashan.
The first Aspiring camp left this morning. This is a special time in the life of a Year 10 boy. I remember my own camp in 1988 and enjoyed my return last year. To those Year 10s going I wish you good weather and lots of fun.
Enjoy your weekend with your family.
