I have just had the opportunity to spend 4 enjoyable days with 10G on camp in the Mt Aspiring National Park.
At this half-way
stage of their camp, the boys have tried orienteering, braved the icy waters of
the Matukituki river, and been spoiled at suppertimes by some fantastic
contributions of home baking. They have
camped out for a night, cooked their own meals outdoors (with varying degrees
of success!) and enjoyed the scenery on a day walk up to the impressive Rob Roy
glacier.
It was difficult to tear myself away as a fine warm evening was beckoning for the second night of the campout in the West Branch of the Matukituki Valley, and other activities such as kayaking still to come later in the week.
