A Message From The Rector

Another strong week at Otago Boys' High School.

The week began very well with the success of our 1st XI Cricket side in the regional 1st XI Cup knock out competition. In winning this competition by defeating John McGlashan in the final we once again qualify for the national finals competition in Lincoln. Both Max Chu and Jack Pryde scored centuries over the two games and Ben Lockrose dominated with his bowling. But as always all members of the side chipped in and that is what makes us a strong school - inside or outside of the classroom.

I have been able to visit a number of classrooms this week. I have been impressed with the positive tone and the effort that is obvious inside these rooms. Strong teacher/student relationships are at the centre of these.

It has also been a positive to see a number of staff in the senior school using the 'Write that Essay' platform. Academic writing is at the heart of academic achievement.

Next week is summer tournament week, good luck to our teams, they are all over the country and I know too that parents have made a real financial committment to ensure their son's have an opportunity. I look forward to reporting on the results next week.
