The final Year 10 camp for the season returned to school on Friday 24th March after a great week in the Matukituki Valley.
With continued
fine, settled weather there were plenty of opportunities for swimming and other
water-based activities, along with orienteering, a visit to the glow worms, and
a double overnight campout near Glacier Burn in the East Branch. This gave us an opportunity to explore
further up the East Branch and swim at the picturesque Hester Pinney Falls.
There was a lot of extra helicopter activity in the valley this week with a wedding taking place beside our bridge and filming of a Chinese TV commercial at the nearby Wishbone Falls. While neither of these events appeared to want 28 teenage boys as extras, it was interesting to see what was going on nevertheless.
All of the boys learned new things about themselves and their classmates, and while outside their comfort zones at times still coped well and contributed to a very positive experience overall.
