Year 10 student Jared Billyard is heading to Jamzac (New Zealand's first National Parkour and Freerunning Competition) being held in Auckland next month.
Parkour is a training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training. Practitioners aim to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most efficient way possible. Parkour includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement, and other movements deemed suitable for the situation.
Jamzac attracts entries worldwide and Jared will compete in the Speed and the Style 10 - 16 year age group events.
