The OBHS water polo team competed at the South Island Championships in Christchurch this week.

In pool play we won all 4 of our games beating St Bedes 4-1, Marlborough Boys' 24-1, Christchurch Boys' 11-5 and a Combined team 27-1. This automatically put us into the semi-final playing the winner of either Christchurch Boys' or Burnside High.

In the semi we played Christchurch Boys' and in a hard fought game we came out on top 10-9. This set up a final against Christ's College, the only other unbeaten team in the tournament. The first 2 quarters were close with both teams going goal for goal. After half time things did not go our way and Christ's started to pull away going on to win the final.

Flynn Steel was named in the tournament team aided by some strong performances from George Gray, Billie Clement and Regan Taylor all of whom were unlucky not to be named in the tournament team.
