At our most recent Board meeting, the success of the 2017 Otago Boys’ Fair was acknowledged. Over $30,000 raised was a massive achievement, and this will enable us to make a substantial investment in our IT capability. The support of the Otago Community Trust to match the funds raised will also assist markedly.
Financial impact aside, what the Board spent more time discussing at our meeting were the intangible benefits the Fair provided. Personally, I really enjoyed the feeling of community the fair provided. It was an opportunity for us to come together – parents, staff, students, supporters – to have fun, and to work towards a common goal.
This success required a massive effort from staff and volunteers from across our community. Everyone willingly gave their time and energy, and I’d like to say I think it was all worth it – but we need to ensure this is acknowledged.
So, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you to everyone for your contribution to the 2017 Fair.
