Senior students Te Ngaru Wehi, Nick Griffen, Teremoana Hamblin and Wilson McKenzie-White from the Whānau Class meet with over 40 international and ESOL students at lunchtime for the first International Whakawhanaungatanga meeting.
Students learnt about aspects of tikanga Maori such as karakia and all gave a mihimihi to share where they were from.
After kai and conversations we headed into the auditorium where the students learnt about the meaning of haka and then practiced the school haka. The final performance lifted the roof and the smiles and enjoyment for all ended a great cultural event which we look forward to doing again.
