Culture is an important part of any organisation; in my opinion the culture of this organisation is the key driver for success. This week we have seen the best and worst of our culture. On Tuesday we hosted our first interschool. And while the result is very important, so is the idea that our culture was also on display.
Unfortunately, we have also been let down this week through some boys' actions. If I have a criticism of our young men, and I have voiced this before it is their lack of understanding when it comes to banter. The issues that staff often deal with stem from boys being annoying to one another, on purpose and taking it too far. To counter this we have been speaking extensively to the students on this term's value - courage. To act with courage is to say 'I won't be part of this behaviour.'
I would appreciate your support in discussing this with your son.
It looks like winter is on the way - keep warm this weekend and I look forward to another great week.
