Modern life seems to get busier and busier. School life is no exception.
This week, boys have been involved in an interschool against Timaru Boys’ High School, Year 13 students Sam Jones, Joshua Samuel, Jack Craig, and Malcolm Crack placed 2nd place in the Otago Science Teachers Association Senior Quiz and Year 9 students Brayden Foote, Ciaran McBurney and Luke Geddes place 3rd in the Otago Daily Times Extra Spelling Quiz. Tutorials, rehearsals and sports practices have continued as normal.
Additionally senior students have been doing internal assessments while juniors have been preparing for exams. With all these demands on their time, organisational and time management skills are vital to the boys’ success and to their wellbeing. Talking to your son about his commitments, helping him set up a time planner and ensuring he is eating and sleeping well are all ways parents support boys to manage their lives.
As junior exams approach students should be planning their study time. They will be sitting four exams over two days so they will need to ensure they are prepared. A study guide is available on the school website (www.obhs.school.nz) and is located under the curriculum and academic tabs. Please take a moment to look at this resource.
