Year 13 student Hamish Walker hit Gold in the holidays.
Coming away with first place in the New Zealand Curling Men’s Open competition, which was held in Dunedin over the first weekend of the school holidays. An amazing achievement from such a young competitor as the tournament included top curlers from throughout New Zealand. Hamish was curling with Sean and Scott Becker and Warren Dobson all of who are New Zealand Men curlers.
In the middle weekend of the holidays Hamish along with younger brother Hunter (also a student at OBHS) curled in the New Zealand Junior Men’s Curling Championship, which was held on Naseby. They were curling with Bailey Dowling (John McGlashan) and Jayden Bishop (Kavanagh College). This was a very close tournament with the boys coming away with Silver.
Congratulations on an outstanding effort!
