This week at senior assembly National Blues were awarded to two of our students.
Nathan Hill
Nathan was selected for the New Zealand Athletics team to attend the Oceania Athletics Championships held in Fiji recently. He competed in the 800m, 1500m and 3000m.
Nathan ran a personal best of 8.42 in the 3000m winning a Silver medal. He also won Silver in the 1500m and came fifth in the 800m.
As an academic Nathan excels in his year group. To date he has never failed a single NCEA credit. He has achieved NCEA Level 1 with Excellence (and is very close to Excellence in Level 2) and has over 120 credits at excellence level, he has 6 level 1 and 2 subjects endorsed at excellence level.
Taiaroa Flavell
Tai is a member of the New Zealand Under 18 Basketball team who recently won Silver at the FIBA Oceania tournament held in Guam. He started in a number of games and performed with credit in the final.
Tai achieved NCEA Level 1 in 2016 just missing out on a merit endorsement. He has set his sights on a merit endorsement for Level 2 this year.
These two awards bring our total number of New Zealand representatives to 13, an outstanding achievement considering we have not finished the year yet.
