On Monday night, hundreds of musicians from around Otago got together to perform a fantastic musical program. The Dunedin Town Hall with over 180 members of the orchestra, and almost an equal number in the choir, it made for a pretty incredible sound.
From Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra from the opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey, to The Lion King Medley, there was fantastic variety in the music and ensembles.
It was a tremendous opportunity for a number of OB's boys to enjoy music, socialise, and gain more performance experience. The boys took part in a rehearsal day in August, and continued to work with the school orchestra and choir to learn the pieces, and spent all day before the concert to polish the parts.
With performances from the combined orchestra, choir, jazz band, concert band, and strings, as well a number of individual school items including the OBHS/OGHS chamber group of Sean Woo, Joshua Lewis, and Renee Mullins, it was a wonderful night of music.
