On Thursday night, the finals for the Dunedin Senior Secondary Schools' Futsal Competition were played.
In division 1, the OBHS Blue team were unbeaten going into the last two round robin games. Made up of our international students, the team has played with real flair and passion. Unfortunately they went down heavily to JMC in their first game (this team has become their nemesis, having beaten them in the Term One final too). The competition was then decided on goal difference. JMC having the better were declared the division 1 winners. Lucas Cho and Morry Moriyama have been outstanding throughout the season, scoring some sublime goals. Tomoki Nakazono has developed well as goal keeper too.
OBHS White, playing in division 4, also just missed out on silverware. With six teams contesting the grade it was a very competitive grade. They conceded a late goal to lose 1-2 to Taieri College (2nd place overall). The team finished strongly though, recording a 10-7 win over KVC. The team played some of their best futsal in this final game with slick ball movement and some fantastic goals. Josh Lewis and Bruce Knox having fine seasons. Goal Keeper, Ryan Elkins, winning the most POD awards though (dubious).
