Deputy Rector Accepts New Role

By OBHS | Posted: Thursday November 2, 2017

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Mr Andrew Turner, our Deputy Rector to the position of Principal at Gisborne Boys' High School. He will begin in the New Year.

Andrew has in his short time here elevated many of the practices and systems in the school, but it is in the relationships that he forged with our staff, our students and our community that have made the most significant impression.

When Andrew was appointed to the Deputy Rector position in term 4 of 2015 some were skeptical that the Board had made the right choice. He quickly established his credentials in what I call a 'PHD in people' and those people understood his ability and that we had an exceptional talent in our school.

I know that Gisborne Boys' are getting a fine leader of boys and of men, they too will quickly come to believe in Andrew and his vision for leading and educating young men.

I must also acknowledge his family. Andrew's wife Michelle, has been an excellent support to him and has made a very good impression with everyone in our school canteen. Their children too, Israel, Josiah (who attended our school last year), and Phoebe and Chloe have made fast friendships in Dunedin.

The Board will now set an appointment timeline for this position.
