Monday Night Racing continues to be popular with in excess of 70 riders, on some nights, contesting the six categories out on the Taieri plains.
The School’s regular participants, namely Ben Hogan, Louis Harris, Pablo Paulsen and Ronan Geraghty, have made huge improvements during the season to date. All four riders have moved up the categories from which they started and are accumulating a lot of points in both the overall, and the Schools’ competitions. Ben Hogan, in particular has made a real impact. Now contesting Category 1 (the highest division), he is doing a lot of the work out the front and more recently has made the podium.
There are two weeks of competition left in the spring season as these riders look sure to secure Otago Boys’ High School the Dunedin Schools’ title, as well as some individual successes in the general classifications.
Thank you to the parents of our student riders for getting the boys there and supporting their progress in the sport. In particular, Rachel Harris for her photography, and work with the Youth Academy, and David Geraghty, who provides a colourful account of each weeks racing.
