Science Wānanga 2017

Science Wānanga 2017 was another fantastic learning experience for our young men.

Held at  Ōtākou Marae this week students studied Bioarchaeology, Taxonomy, Physics of Light and investigated wild life with a Sea Lions Project.

The Wananga is about science from a Maori perspective and how that integrates into the modern scientific world. This initiative is supported by the University of Otago with the intention of young Maori following a course through science pathways into Health Sciences at Otago University.

Otago Boys’ High through this initiative, over the past six years, has been a successful and powerful vector for Maori students to set goals and secure success in entering Health Science or other Sciences at the University.

Thanks to Ms Casey and Mr Golder for their invaluable support.
