A Week in the Catlins

In Week 7 of Term 4, 10T discovered and explored the wonderful natural area that is the Catlins.

The aim of the week includes the boys completing three academic projects based around Creative Writing (English), a comparison of flax bushes at two locations (Statistics) and an investigation into the fascinating geology of the world famous Curio Bay (Science).

The boys explored Nugget Point, Cannibal Bay (where Elliott Alloo nearly lost a 100m sprint against an unusually annoyed baby sealion), Jacks Bay, Cathedral Caves, Slope Point, Mclean Falls and Curio Bay. The fine run of weather made for a stellar week down in the deep south. The boys were an absolute pleasure to take and as usual fantastic ambassadors for our school.

The highlight of the week was a late evening swim in the Mclean Falls, under a warm setting sun. From Matukituki earlier in the year to the Catlins at the end, 10T have been lucky to get to know some of the best parts of the South Island in 2017.
