What a Season Ending Haul!
The Otago Boys’ High School Athletics team came away from National Secondary Schools’ Championships in Hastings with a mixture of medals. All boys performed to the best of their ability in each of the events. Two boys who were injured (Josh Friend and Dan Ryan) managed to line up for their relay enabling both to gain medals for the teams – a great effort and much appreciated. Special mention must go to Michael Manson for literally throwing himself across the line to ensure the 4x4 relay gained a bronze – he has never run a 400 metre race before. He also is commended for gaining 6th place in the Senior 100m final – he was up against 7 Year 13 boys and to perform so well in the supreme event for boys is a credit to his determination. The senior boys’ 4x1 relay had the fastest time in New Zealand before the event and to carry through and take the gold was really special.
Thank you Liam Turner, Anton Schroder, Cameron Miller, Dan Ryan and Tim Horton for mentoring the young lads. We wish you well with your athletics in the future.
