With two Year 9 classes recently returned from very successful camps at our Mt Aspiring Lodge, attention turns to the remaining camps for our 2018 Year 10 students.
There will be five Year 10 camps in Term One next year, with the first departing on Friday 23rd February and the others departing at weekly intervals until the final camp returns to school at the end of March.
Unfortunately, at this stage of the year it is impossible to finalise dates for camps as staffing and class changes are still happening. You will be notified early next year which week your son’s class will be going to camp. It is expected that all students will go to camp with their own class, but in the rare event a student is unable to go that week we will endeavour to place them on an alternative camp.
Some parents have been asking for the full gear list so they can start accumulating the necessary items. We do not expect parents to have to go out and buy every item on this list, but rather to borrow where necessary from neighbours, family or friends. If your son shows a particular interest in the outdoors then some of these items may even make good Christmas gift ideas! A gear list is attached at the bottom of this article.
The cost of camp will remain fixed at $350 for 2018. We recognise this is a big financial commitment, particularly at the beginning of a new school year. It is possible to arrange time payments through Tina Fridd in the school office, and in some cases of hardship, partial subsidies of fees can be arranged by application through me. These options must be set up prior to your son departing for camp.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
Best wishes for the holiday season,
