In a first for OBHS, the entire year 9 intake of hostel boys for 2018 had the opportunity to spend an extra long weekend up at our Lodge in the Matukituki Valley.
These 25 boys, accompanied by 5 year 13 senior leaders from the hostel, were able to spend the 5 days getting to know each other while developing group and communication skills through participation in a wide range of activities.
The enthusiasm, determination and positive attitude shown by these year 9 boys over the weekend are a promising sign that our hostel is in good hands for at least the next 5 years.
Overall this was an extremely successful trip and already plans are afoot to make this a regular feature of the hostel calendar. Special thanks must go to the year 13 leaders (Thomas Harding, Tom Howie, Lochlann O’Sullivan, Nic Sinnott and Will Stone) for their great effort and excellent role-modelling, alongside the support of Mr Hall, Mrs Kinney and Mr Scott.
