School House keeps itself busy on the weekend
After last weekends zorbing, School House had a slightly more sedate weekend. Rain on Saturday morning meant that many cricket games were cancelled with only the junior teams managing to play. The rain didn't stop play in the house though, with new housemaster Munya Marowa challenging the boys to take him on at chess. With the offer of a free Domino's pizza to anyone who could beat him, the boys were lining up to play. All went away disappointed though, with Munya going undefeated.
Sunday saw the boys partake in some in inter-house games at the school. The prefects organised games of touch, multi sport and even a Kahoot quiz. This was followed by a massive whole house game of dodge ball in the gym, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the boys. It was impressive to see the Year Nines more than hold their own in this fierce battle!
A special mention to Thomas Ryan who was part of the Otago Boys U19 double who raced in the National Club Championships at Lake Karapiro on the weekend. After winning their heat the boys came fourth in the A final. This was a fantastic effort with the vast majority of crews in the event already left school and having considerable more rowing experience. All of this bodes well for South Island's and Maadi in a few weeks time, where the boys will get the chance to race school crews. I am looking forward to coming up and watching the boys in action for these regattas.
