Biology Boys at Blueskin Bay

By Pru Casey | Posted: Monday March 5, 2018

The annual Biology field trip to Blueskin Bay was a highlight of the week for Year 12 Biology students last week.

With the Alaskan immigrant Godwits, pure white Spoonbills and Toroa (oyster catchers) looking on, our lads surveyed the Tuaki (cockles) and mud snails looking for zonation patterns in the estuary.

The estuary is the nursery for the marine environment and provides a food basket that ultimately feeds all marine life.

It is great to see the lads develop a sense of kaitiaki - guardianship - of this special place.
