Congratulations to our Senior A volleyball team who took out the Otago Championships over the weekend. This makes it 3 titles in 3 years.
The team were on a mission. They went through the whole tournament winning every game and without dropping a set. The game of the tournament was against King's High A where the team stepped it up a couple of notches, beating King's 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25,14)
Stand out players were Masyn Opetaia with his middle attacks and blocking. Itsuki Takahashi controlled the court with his pin point setting. John Cikamatana was outstanding with his pin point serving and his powerful attacks. Nick Sharp offered a reliable attacking option on the outside. Cody Taylor was the spark of the team, keeping busy in the middle. Henry Stowers controlled the back court and hustled well in the front court. Noah Rooney had an outstanding tournament as the specialist passer while Olly Jones was dynamic with his jump serves and 3 metre attacks.
A special mention to our Year 11's, Jacob Whitty and Angus Henderson who stepped in for Luke Martin and Rory Boyd who were away on camp.
Winning Otago's means that we have qualified for Hounors Division (Top 32) at Nationals. The team head away this Sunday to compete against the best from around the country.
All the best!
