Term two has started in a positive fashion for the hostel with school and plenty of weekend activities to keep the boys busy. The hostel shooters, had mixed success on the weekend with some claiming up to 60 ducks while others had to settle for only 2 or 3.
On Saturday we had scheduled an inter-house tug of war, but due to many boys still being at rugby we had to reschedule this event. We went instead to Laser Tag which the boys thoroughly enjoyed. It was great to see some of the Year 13 boys join in and team up with some of the Year 9 and 10s.
Sunday saw the hostel go paintballing, the most popular activity at the hostel. The rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the boys and a good time was had by all. Some of the boys returned to School House with some impressive bruises!!
On Wednesday, School House went to watch the school production. While for many of the boys this is not something they enjoy, it is the one evening a year where we do something like this and is a chance for the hostel to support those hostel boys that are in the production cast.
Congratulations to Matt Gray who was selected to trail for the New Zealand U18 touch team. While he ultimately didn’t make the final squad, to be invited to trial is a great honour. Well done Matt!!
On Sunday 20th May we are hosting the first School House Grandparents Dinner. This will be a special function to celebrate the involvement that many of our grandparents have in the lives of the boys.
Have a great week!
