Sonny Bill Williams made a visit to our Pasifika Homework Club on Wednesday to share some words of encouragement and share bread with those who attended.
His message was of brotherhood and the importance of supporting each other. He spoke about mental health and having the courage to speak out and show emotion. He touched on his own struggles in his professional career and how he overcame them. Our students asked questions probing him on how he prepares for big games to how he deals with cyber bullies. Mr Williams presented awards celebrating the academic success of many of our senior students. He was presented with a school tie by Prefect Henry Stowers and our boys sung a Samoan hymn "Tu'u atu le mana" for our special guest.
Mr Williams expressed his gratitude to the school and the students on his Instagram post which has been liked by over 25,000 people, highlighting his influence and mana for many around the world.
Thank you Mr Williams for giving your time and sharing your experiences with our students. A special mention to the Crichton family for making this visit possible.
