A team of 10 boys travelled to Christchurch at the end of the school holidays to compete in the National Schools Orienteering Championships.
This is a huge event held over three days involving more than 30 boys schools and 30 girls schools from all across the country.
Otago Boys’ placed 11th overall. However the star performance was our Intermediate Relay Team 1 who placed 5th in the relay event held on the third day of the competition. It was a technical course run mostly on mountain bike tracks in Burwood Forest and our boys were competitive against older teams with only two minutes separating them from a podium finish. Well done to Ollie Bixley, Brayden Foote and Luke Geddes.
It was a very successful trip and with a young team we have high hopes for next year’s competition.
