How lucky are our Year 13 Biology students!
With the support of the University of Otago Botany Department, our students are able complete supported investigations into our native trees while staying at Orokonui Ecosanctuary.
A special treat was seeing a kiwi strolling through the Ecosanctuary on our night walk, and listening to their “sneezes”, as they expelled dirt from their nostrils situated on the end of their probing beaks. We also saw browsing takahe, kaka creeping though the night trees, as well as morepork and frogs. Being able to stay overnight to enjoy the dusk and dawn chorus was a boon.
An unforgettable trip! Thank you Mr Twaites and Ms Casey.
